Pepper Pad Internet Tablet
Len Kawell, the founder of Pepper Computer, had a vision of a new kind of computer. Smaller than a laptop, larger and more useable than a mobile phone, the new product would come to be known as a MID, or Mobile Internet Device. Pepper turned to A.B.I.D. to define and design what this product should be, and from this joint effort came the revolutionary Pepper Pad.
The Pepper Pad was designed as a "couch top" computer. It is the perfect tool for casual web browsing, emailing, and instant messaging, and features software for managing MP3s, pictures, and movies. The design is unique in that it features a patented illuminated split keyboard to allow the user to enter data without losing their grip on the product. The Pepper Pad also features an articulating stand that allows it to sit upright on a table for handsfree viewing. The plastic housing incorporates an elastomeric bezel to protect the screen and hold the stylus and rubberized end caps to cushion the product from bumps or falls. Truly a revolutionary design, the Pepper Pad received the Design and Engineering Showcase Award at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show.
“Al is a good listener, as well as a talented designer, and will work hard to get the results you want. He shared our vision and was able to execute and bring our idea to life.”
